As a Master's student in Earth System Science at the University of Zurich conducting my thesis at Agroscope, I am delving into the potential of high-resolution satellite data for estimating canopy cover and Leaf Area Index (LAI). My thesis focuses on identifying an optimal index for a low canopy cover density model utilizing drone data. This model will serve as a foundation for analyzing various high-resolution satellite timeseries across different crop types in Switzerland to investigate the impact of soil compaction and different fertilizer applications on crop development.
