Data Scientist or Data Engineer for sustainable agriculture (80-100%)
The Earth Observation of Agroecosystems Team at Agroscope (https://www.eoa-team.net) are looking for a Data Scientist or Engineer to join the team in Zurich.
By processing and analyzing Earth Observation (EO) data and environmental data (soil, weather, management), you will help to improve our understanding of agroecosystems and make our land management practices more sustainable.
Your work will make important contributions to research- and application-oriented projects, including the Monitoring of the Swiss Agro-Environmental System (“MAUS”). Your findings will serve as a decision-making basis for agricultural practice and policy and as a basis for research, thus contributing directly to the sustainable use of natural resources.

Laboratory assistant (student assistant / “hiwi” /summer job)
We are currently searching for one laboratory assistant. Your job would be to process plant samples coming from farmers fields. This includes weighting, (freeze) drying and milling. Potentially, you could also carry out pigment analysis.
You would need to have a reliable and clean working attitude and be comfortable to work “hands on”. While working with us, you will have the chance to look into our research and the Institution Agroscope.
Your work place would be at Agroscope, Reckenholz in Zürich Affoltern and/or ETH Zürich, Fieldstation Eschikon. You will be very flexible on when to work, e.g. you could carry out this work a couple of hours a week or as an summer job.
Dataset manager (student assistant / “hiwi” /summer job)
We are currently searching for support to build a database of previously executed field surveys. Your job would be to:
- View and organize documents (pdfs, hand written, excels), extract relevant information from it and insert it into machine readable tables, e.g. excel files in a structured way
- Contact the authors (researchers, farmers) of the documents in case a validation is needed
You would need to have be a reliable and clean working attitude and be comfortable doing a bit of a potentially tedious task. While working with us, you will have the chance to look into our research and the Institution Agroscope.
